Where's Dave? 2007/07/10 02:04 Karma: 0
Were two games into the season and if youre like me, theres only one thought thats been running through your head. Wheres Dave?

Somebody call the Dairyland people, its time to put Dave Dickensons face on the side of a one liter carton of milk.

Despite a successful beat down of the Edmonton Eskimos this past Friday, the public face of the B.C. Lions appears to be nowhere in sight. Now, he was actually on the field but for someone whos considered to be the general of the team, Dave Dickensons play so far has been less than a display of military precision. With a score of 29-9, youd expect Dave to have had a certain effect on the game, but minus a 100-yard drive that lead to a 36 yard TD pass to Jason Clairmont, the veteran leader was essentially AWOL for what is now the second game in a row.

Answers need to be found and fast, as the running game and the defense are not going to be able to hold up the team for the entire season. I believe I have the answer to the problem though, its an issue thats taking hold of thousands of people in todays society and it looks like its gotten to Dave Dickenson too.

Guitar Hero.

The video game that has taken North America by storm in its attempt to corrupt the minds of both young and old with the power of rock and has worn out Dave Dickenson. In the case of Guitar Hero, the player use a faux-guitar that is plugged into his or her play station to bang out riffs like they were Jimmy Page or Eric Clapton. Trouble is, this wears our the player pretty quickly, even in some cases, causing serious damage to their hands and arms.

When hard throwing Detroit Tigers reliever Joel Zumaya missed several games during the MLB playoffs last year, he admitted that is was due to the wear and tear of trying to master riffs by bands like Franz Ferdinand and Kiss on the popular game. I get the feeling that the lack of throwing action from Dave may be caused by the exact same thing. Dubbed The Legend of the Fall during his successful career leading the university Of Montana Grizzlies, Dave may well be trying to change that nickname to The Blizzard Of Oz.

At least we know that when his football career is done, Dave could have a second career all lined up and ready to run with. If and when he deicide to let Buck Pierce and Jarius Jackson lead the team to future glories, Dave could just as easily take to leading the Dave Dickenson guitar orchestra, playing smooth favorites for veteran football fans in cities across Canada.
