We Can Rebuild Him! 2007/08/03 01:55 Karma: 0
I have to admit, I like my old 70s TV shows and Im seeing a lot of the same things I did as a kid in the current state of the B.C. Lions. Like Lee Majors in the Six-Million Dollar Man, the Lions are attempting to cybernetically rebuild themselves in the hopes of being able to save the world, or at least save themselves from a losing season.

Riddled with injuries, the Lions are going into tonights game against Saskatchewan looking like hell. Third string quarterback is starting, key players on both lines are down, youd think that they would be in tough against a team thats foaming at the mouth to get a shot at our boys. But I figure the lads are going to be fine, well be at 6-0 before you can say Bobby Ackles five times fast. To make sure this happens and continue to happen, we need to do a few things first

First off, its time to saddle up Dave Dickenson and send him off into the sunset for the sake of not only the team but Dave himself. Hes done great service to the Lions and the league, but after three concussions in two years, hes reduced functionality is going to make him a risk not only to the team but to himself. Even the heartiest of NHL players out there have had to retire after concussions like that. Make him a coach, let him impart years of wisdom to Buck Pierce and Jarius Jackson, but for god sakes, let not have the man get his brains rattled any harder than they already have been.

Pray, thats all we can do, and hope to hell that Kerry Joseph or Marcus Crandall havent realized that were missing both lynchpins of our secondary. Both Korey Banks and Dante Marsh are gone with rookies, and training camp cuts brought back to fill the gap. Hell, even Brett Anderson, who usually lines up as a slot back on the other side of the ball, has been taking reps as a safety. Not a good sign, heres to hoping the BC medical staff have been able to find a good deal of plaster and bandages, if not a good cybernetic surgeon.

Finally, the Lions need to pay off whoever took away Geroy Simons Xbox 360 to keep it away from him. After being awol for the majority of the games over the last five weeks, Simon picked up 75 yards and a touchdown last week against a feisty Calgary team. As long as he hasnt completely shot his eyesight and hand son too many hours of Grand theft auto and Madden 07, he should be fine.

If not, well, the training staff have rebuilt have the team into cyborgs anyway, Im sure theyll be able to rebuild him as well.
